SJF Kung Fu School provides short-term and long-term authentic Chinese Kung Fu training to international students around the world.
Before you pay a deposit for a month of breath and standing practice, find out what the quoted figure leaves out. A low tuition line can sit beside lodging, meals, visa fees and transport that nobody mentioned, and the gap appears only after you land. At SJF Kung Fu School, Qi Gong is taught as a quiet discipline, and we think the money side deserves the same quiet clarity. This guide shows how to budget Qi Gong training China stays of 30 days or longer, so two quotes can be compared on equal terms.
One honest limit first. We do not publish a single "monthly price" here, because the total depends on your dates, your room, your nationality and the lessons you add. What we can give you is the structure: six cost lines, the questions to ask under each, and what other students said about living and training here.

Qi Gong looks gentle from the outside. Inside, it is slow work on breath, posture and attention. The first week often feels awkward, and that is normal. Austin Erkl from the USA, who stayed 30 days for Tai Chi and Sword, admitted he did not love it at first. After adjusting, he had a great time and left with memories he said he would cherish. A month gives the body that adjustment period; a few days rarely does.
The teacher matters as much as the room. Master Shen Jiangfei is a descendant of Liuhe Quan and the 11th-generation inheritor of Chen-style Tai Chi, the original and oldest of the five primary family styles. In this tradition, Qi Gong, Zhan Zhuang (standing meditation) and martial practice grow from the same root. Wu De, the martial virtues of humility, respect and patience, shape how a student is expected to train, not only what is practiced.
The setting is practical too. Our 200㎡ indoor training center keeps practice going regardless of weather, and the school sits near the Shaolin Temple with more than 30 cultural and historical sites nearby. Those sites are a real pleasure on a rest day, and they are also a cost line, which brings us to the model below.
Use these six lines, plus a small personal buffer, for every school you compare. Put the same lines in the same order. A quote that cannot fill one of them is a quote with a question mark.
| Cost line | What it covers | Confirm before paying | Paid to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuition | Daily classes for the 30 days (Qi Gong, Zhan Zhuang and any related classes) | Class hours per day, which styles are included, exact start and end dates | School |
| Lodging | Room for the full stay | Single or shared room, utilities, laundry, whether it is bundled into tuition | School or separate provider |
| Meals | Daily food | Which meals are provided, dietary needs, whether weekends are covered | School or paid locally |
| Visa | Visa application fees and supporting paperwork | Requirements for your nationality (check the Chinese embassy or consulate), and what documents the school can supply | Embassy or visa center |
| Local transport | Arrival transfer, departure, rest-day trips to nearby sites | Pickup arrangements, typical fares, who books them | Drivers, rail, taxis |
| Optional private lessons | One-to-one sessions for personal correction or a style outside the group schedule | Rate per session, availability, whether it is added to the group program | School |
Flights and travel insurance sit outside this table, but add them to your own sheet. So do small daily items like a local SIM card, snacks and gifts.
Write your arrival and departure dates, then count the training days.
Ask the school to quote tuition, lodging and meals as three separate numbers, even if they are sold as a package.
Look up visa requirements for your passport directly with the embassy. Treat visa as a one-time cost, not a monthly one.
List the rest-day trips you actually want, and estimate transport for each.
Decide on private lessons last. Add them only after you have seen the group schedule.
Say you receive one quote that shows only a tuition figure and another that shows a higher figure including room and meals. The second is not automatically more expensive. Rewrite both on the six lines above. If the first leaves lodging and meals blank, ask for them. Only then compare the totals. If a school cannot fill the blanks, that tells you something as well.
None of these cases was a Qi Gong-only course. They were Tai Chi, Zhan Zhuang and weapon programs, so read them as evidence about daily life and the training environment, not about Qi Gong pricing.
| Student | Stay | What they reported | Budget lesson |
|---|---|---|---|
| Austin Erkl, USA | 30 days, Tai Chi and Sword | Praised the accommodation, the food and the master: "The master is a great guy that cares for his students." | Lodging and meals shape the experience. Ask exactly what is provided. |
| Klaes Risbjerg Simonsen, Denmark | 30 days, Tai Chi, Zhan Zhuang, Broadsword | Wanted a focused experience, not a touristy resort. Said the Shifu adapted the training to his needs. | Choose for focus first, then compare totals. Ask how private adjustments are handled. |
| Andrew Williams, USA | 30 days with his son | Called it life-changing, physically, mentally and spiritually, and plans to return. | Two travelers means two sets of costs. Ask about group booking terms. |
| Hayley Noel, UK | 120 days, Tai Chi, Zhan Zhuang, Sword, Broadsword | Her family wrote: "She has had an awesome time, and we are so grateful to you." | Longer stays change the visa and lodging math. Quote them separately. |
If a stay beyond one month appeals to you, the Three-Month Course page describes how the longer format is structured.
What we can state plainly:
Regular classes have no minimum enrollment.
Group bookings need at least 2 students.
Programs run from one-week intensives to long-term training, for international students at different levels.
Practice takes place on indoor training mats, with wooden dummies, traditional weapons and a meditation hall available.
What we have not set out here, and what you should agree in writing before sending money: the deposit and payment schedule, the change or cancellation terms, the exact inclusions of lodging and meals, and how a private lesson is booked and charged. These are matters to settle in your own quote conversation. Do not assume them from a website or from another school's practice.
Comparing tuition-only figures against all-in packages.
Treating the one-time visa cost as a monthly expense, or leaving it out entirely.
Forgetting rest-day transport to the Shaolin Temple area and nearby sites.
Adding private lessons in week one, before you know what the group schedule already covers.
Booking a long stay without trying a shorter one when you have no prior practice.
| Length | Best fit | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| One week | A first taste. Pamela Paes Ezawa (Brazil) and Othmane Echaouki with his wife (France) each completed 7 days of Chen-style Tai Chi and valued the welcome and the traditional setting. | Too short for the body to settle into slow breath work. |
| One month | Beginners and returning students who want real routine. Matches the 30-day stays above. | Deep refinement of forms takes longer than 30 days. |
| Three months or more | Students who want sustained study of lineage forms, weapons and Meditation beside Qi Gong. | Needs longer visa planning and a bigger lodging budget. |
For most first-time visitors budgeting carefully, one month is the practical middle: long enough to feel the practice change you, short enough to keep the budget clear.
A useful inquiry is short. Send us:
Your preferred arrival date and how many weeks you can stay.
How many people are coming (two or more qualifies as a group booking).
Your martial arts or Qi Gong experience, even if it is none.
Whether you want only Qi Gong and Zhan Zhuang, or Tai Chi and weapons as well.
Room preference, dietary needs and any health notes.
Whether you would like to price optional private lessons.
We will reply with the six lines filled in as far as your dates allow, and we will say clearly what still needs to be agreed. Seekers who come to learn, not to sightsee, are always welcome at our school.
