SJF Kung Fu School provides short-term and long-term authentic Chinese Kung Fu training to international students around the world.
What Is Taichi and How It Challenges You
Taichi is a traditional Chinese martial art that uses slow, flowing movements, deep breathing, and mental focus. At SJF Kung Fu School, we teach authentic Taichi to international students. Master Shen Jiangfei leads our school. He grew up in a martial arts family and is a descendant of Liuhe Quan and the 11th-generation inheritor of Chen-style Taichi. Our international students come from Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Austria, the United States, Libya, the Philippines, and more. They come to challenge themselves and grow through Taichi.

Taichi looks easy but is challenging. The slow movements require control and balance. Holding stances works your muscles. Remembering sequences exercises your memory. Taichi will challenge you in unexpected ways. This challenge is what makes it rewarding.
Physical Challenges You Will Face
Your legs will feel the burn. The stances in Taichi are demanding. You hold positions that work your thighs and legs. This is a real physical challenge. Your legs become stronger and more stable.
Your balance will be tested. Taichi requires precise balance. You shift weight and stand on one leg. This challenges your stability. Your balance improves dramatically over time.
Your coordination will be challenged. You must move your arms, legs, and body together. This requires coordination. Many people find this difficult at first. But your coordination improves with practice.
Your flexibility will be tested. Taichi movements stretch your muscles and joints. You will discover areas that are tight. This is a challenge. But you become more flexible with consistent practice.
Mental Challenges You Will Face
Your memory will be tested. You must learn long sequences of movements. This is a memory challenge. Many students struggle at first. But your memory improves as you practice.
Your concentration will be challenged. Taichi requires focus. You cannot let your mind wander. This is difficult for many people. But your concentration gets stronger with practice.
Your patience will be tested. Learning Taichi takes time. You cannot rush. This is a challenge for impatient people. But Taichi teaches you patience.
Your understanding will be challenged. Taichi has deep philosophy. Understanding it is a mental challenge. You think about balance, energy, and harmony. This deepens your mind.
Emotional Challenges You Will Face
You will face frustration. Some movements are hard. You may make mistakes. This can be frustrating. But overcoming frustration is part of the journey.
You will face self-doubt. You may doubt your abilities. You may think you cannot learn Taichi. These doubts are a challenge. But you overcome them with practice.
You will face impatience. You may want to progress faster. This impatience is a challenge. Taichi teaches you to be patient with yourself.
You will face discomfort. Taichi pushes you out of your comfort zone. This discomfort is challenging. But growth comes from being uncomfortable.
How to Overcome These Challenges
Practice consistently. The key to overcoming challenges is practice. The more you practice, the better you get. Consistency overcomes most difficulties.
Accept where you are. Accept your current level. Do not judge yourself. Acceptance makes practice easier. You progress faster.
Ask for help. Master Shen and other students can help. Do not be afraid to ask questions. This help makes challenges easier to overcome.
Enjoy the process. Do not focus only on results. Enjoy each step of learning. This enjoyment makes challenges less stressful.
