SJF Kung Fu School provides short-term and long-term authentic Chinese Kung Fu training to international students around the world.
What Is Taichi and How It Changes You
Taichi is an ancient Chinese martial art that combines gentle movements with deep breathing. At SJF Kung Fu School, we teach Taichi as a complete system for developing body, mind, and spirit. Master Shen Jiangfei leads our school. He is the 11th-generation inheritor of Chen-style Taichi and a descendant of Liuhe Quan. He grew up in a martial arts family and has dedicated decades to preserving authentic teachings. Our international students come from many countries, including Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Austria, the United States, Libya, and the Philippines. They come here to learn real Taichi in a genuine environment.
Taichi is not just slow exercise. It is a practical martial art with real self-defense applications. The slow movements train your body to move efficiently and generate internal power. When you practice Taichi, you are also training your mind to be calm and focused. This combination of physical and mental training makes Taichi unique.

What You Will Learn in Your Taichi Course
You will start with basic stances and movements. These stances build leg strength, stability, and proper alignment. You will learn how to stand correctly, shift your weight, and step with precision. Master Shen will guide you through each movement and correct your form. This foundation is essential for progressing to more advanced techniques.
You will learn to coordinate your breath with your movements. Deep, natural breathing is a key part of Taichi. You will learn to inhale and exhale at the right moments. This breathing calms your mind, relaxes your body, and helps you generate internal energy. Proper breathing also improves your circulation and supports your overall health.
You will practice complete Taichi forms. These are sequences of movements that flow together like a dance. Each form has a martial meaning and a health benefit. As you learn the forms, you will also learn their applications. Master Shen explains the purpose behind each posture. This understanding makes your practice more meaningful and effective.
You will also learn Push Hands. This is a two-person practice that develops sensitivity and timing. You learn to feel your partner's energy and respond appropriately. Push Hands is one of the most important training methods in Taichi. It teaches you how to maintain your balance and control your opponent's force.
Transform Your Energy with Simple Practice
Your energy, or Qi, flows through your body. Taichi movements help you feel and direct this energy. With regular practice, you become more aware of your internal energy. You learn to guide it with your mind and movement. This improves your health, vitality, and overall well-being.
Relaxation is the key to energy flow. When you are tense, your energy gets blocked. When you relax, energy flows freely. Every Taichi class emphasizes relaxation. You learn to release tension in your shoulders, hips, and breath. The more relaxed you become, the stronger your energy feels. Many students describe feeling a warm, tingling sensation during practice.
Consistent practice increases your energy awareness. You may not feel energy right away. But over time, you will notice subtle sensations. Some students feel warmth in their hands. Others feel a sense of fullness or lightness. These signs show that your energy is beginning to flow. Keep practicing and your awareness will continue to grow.
Connect Mind and Body Through Focused Practice
Taichi demands your full attention. You must focus on your movements, your breath, and your body alignment. This focus clears your mind of distractions and worries. You become fully present in the moment. This mental clarity is one of the most valued benefits of Taichi. Many students notice they feel more peaceful and clear-headed after practice.
Your mind guides your body in every movement. You think about where you want to move, and your body follows. This mind-body connection trains your brain and your body to work together. It improves your coordination, balance, and reaction time. It also helps you develop greater self-awareness and emotional control.

You learn to observe yourself without judgment. Taichi teaches you to notice your tension, your thoughts, and your emotions. You learn to accept what you find and gently make changes. This self-awareness benefits every area of your life. It improves your relationships, your work, and your personal growth.
Your breath becomes a tool for relaxation. In Taichi, your breath is always calm and steady. You learn to breathe deeply from your abdomen. This type of breathing calms your nervous system and reduces stress. You can use this breathing technique anytime you feel anxious or overwhelmed.
Experience China's Hidden Wisdom in Every Class
Taichi contains thousands of years of Chinese wisdom. It is not just a set of movements. It is a philosophy of balance, harmony, and naturalness. Taichi teaches you to move with the flow of life rather than against it. This wisdom applies to martial arts and to daily living. At SJF, we teach Taichi as a complete system that includes its philosophical and cultural roots.
You learn the principles of Yin and Yang. Taichi movements alternate between soft and hard, slow and fast, open and closed. This balance of opposites is the essence of Yin and Yang. Understanding this principle helps you move more effectively and live more harmoniously. It is a deep wisdom that takes years to fully appreciate.
The practice teaches you patience and humility. Taichi cannot be mastered quickly. It requires years of dedicated practice. This teaches you patience and respect for the art. You learn to accept where you are and keep working toward improvement. These qualities are valuable in all aspects of life.
You become part of a living tradition. Taichi has been passed down through generations for hundreds of years. When you learn at SJF, you are connecting with this long history. Master Shen is a direct inheritor of this tradition. He teaches the art as it was taught to him. This connection to the past adds depth and meaning to your practice.
Develop Inner Peace Through Daily Training
Taichi practice naturally calms your mind. The slow, repetitive movements have a meditative quality. They quiet your thoughts and bring you into a state of peace. Many students describe feeling deeply relaxed after practice. This peace carries over into their daily lives.
You learn to manage stress more effectively. Stress is a major cause of health problems. Taichi teaches you to relax your body and calm your mind. This reduces the physical and mental effects of stress. You become more resilient and better able to handle challenges.
Your emotional balance improves. Taichi helps you regulate your emotions. You become less reactive and more stable. You learn to respond to situations with calmness rather than impulsiveness. This emotional balance improves your relationships and your quality of life.
You find contentment in the present moment. Taichi teaches you to be here now. You focus on your movement, your breath, and your body. You stop worrying about the past or the future. This presence brings a deep sense of contentment and peace.
